Diving and snorkelling

The country offers world class dive sites through both live-aboard and land-based operators and sites include an abundance of WWII wreck sites as well as reef structures. We at Leleana Resort are one of the major areas for diving in the Western Province, including around Gizo and Munda. We offer exclusive access to the sunken American warplane, the 'Hellcat', in shallow waters at Double Island, right in front of 'Leleana'.  In conjunction with 'FatBoys' Resort, we can arrange all necessary dive gear and a choice of sites, including transport.

Fishing

One of the main attractions at Leleana Resort is fishing.

Why?  It is all about location.

Strategically placed between the alluring ocean and the lakes of Kolombangara, we offer excellent surface fishing, right at your Bungalows doorstep.

You can witness first-hand… the giant trevally raids on the gathered baitfish, that swarm in the shallows. They are waiting!

Head out towards Double Island, over our coral reefs and lagoons, to experience catching a Bluefin trevally, red bass, a coral trout or the Māori wrasse.

In the USA and Aust. - ‘birding’ is one of the fastest growing pastimes, with approximately 20 –35 percent of respondents to a large survey of recreational activities indicating that they regularly watch birds.

Leleana Resort hosts annual visitations from Heritage Expeditions, where upwards of 70 birdwatchers enjoy the Resort location as their base for specific rare bird sightings, like the rare Roviana Rail / "grassbird".

Birds watchers can see the Roviana grass birds at Kongu Kovuru village. Transit Fee $500.00 Plus entrance fee of $100.00 per head to village elders.

Adventure/Romance Getaway

Disconnect from the grid and reconnect with your partner.

Leleana Resort offers a get-away-from-it-all isolation, ideal for a honeymoon or amorous retreat.

Just jump on one of ‘Fly Solomon’s’ commuter planes and head to the Western Province, where the sunsets are to die for.

Swimming and snorkeling are great year-round. And there are hundreds of tiny islands to explore during the day or to visit for special photos at dusk.

Consider our Malaga River cruise, including a visit to the 'Lomoslea' Organic Farm. SBD $360 round trip.

'LeleanaLife' has a special evening concert, every month, with our fantastic 'Bamboo Band' as a cultural event.

At least four or five days at Leleana Resort Kolombangara will allow you to slow down and devour the charm of the island.

To enjoy simple moments just listening to the lap of a wave, the natural air-conditioning of a mountain breeze, a squeak of a gecko or splash of a jumping fish, the passing of a pod of dolphins.

Such is the relaxed style of this natural slice of largely uninhabited paradise, or for the more adventurous, endless hiking options that can take you to waterfalls or even a volcano.

So, if you long to get back to peacefulness and natural beauty, wish to embrace real Melanesian life without all the lashings of larger resorts, base yourself on the renown Kolombangara Island and entwine romance with adventure and seek an island all to yourselves to get married or reconnect.
