Kolombangara: meaning 'Water Lord', is an island in the Solomon’s Western Province, almost perfectly round, 30 kms across, and at its peak of 1,800 mts, the extinct volcano, Mt. Rano. 80 rivers and creeks flow down the slopes.
Kolombangara forms one of the highest mountains in the Solomon Islands outside of the Guadalcanal region. This area has been preserved from logging and is therefore home to dense jungle with a large variety of wildlife such as the local endemic birds the Kolombangara White Eye and local endemic frogs.
Leleana Resort Kolombangara is idyllically situated between the ocean and the lakes, with the mountain 'Heribangara' poised behind the lakes, ready for your hiking or overnight trekking adventure.
If the ‘Mt. Rano 'extinct volcano' expedition is out of your reach...do not miss out on 'Heribangara'. Our guides are waiting for you. I will let the pictures tell the story!
